ABAB Calf Show Showmanship Judge announced

9th July 2018

We are delighted to announce that Ben Yates will judge the Coloured Breeds Showmanship Competition at the 2018 ABAB Calf Show. Ben is very well known in our industry with a wealth of experience and we are thrilled he has accepted our invitation to officiate at what is the biggest showmanship competition in the UK.

Ben currently manages the Y-Farm Partnership farm, near Shepton Mallet, Somerset, which is a modern unit milking 1,300 Holstein cattle on a 64-point rotary parlour. With his wife Lizzie and two boys, Ben also has a few of his own animals under the recently established Wowcow prefix.

Ben’s time working at Smiddiehill Holsteins as a youngster is where he developed a passion for pedigree Holsteins and showing. This passion led to travelling around the world working with cattle in countries such as Japan, the USA and Australia.

During his time managing The Wyndford Herd, Shropshire, Ben enjoyed success showing animals he bred cattle across the UK and in Europe, the highlight being winning second place intermediate heifer at The European Show, Colmar in 2016.

Ben has enjoyed judging many shows with highlights including the Emerald Expo, Celtic Show Case, The All Ireland Calf Show & the Winter Show in Drenthe, Holland.
Ben looks forward to judging and meeting you all at this years Coloured Breeds Showmanship competition.
