Long Service Award for Lesley

15th December 2017

On behalf of staff, members, Presidents and Cattle Services, Philip Williams recently presented Lesley with a gift to congratulate and recognise 25 years of consecutive service with prior service of 12 years to the Ayrshire Cattle Society.

Lesley began her career with the Society in 1972 when she was 16 years old, Alex Colvin was responsible for interviewing Lesley and he was so impressed by her qualities at the interview he offered her the job there and then.  During the first part of Lesley’s employment the manner in which supervisors led their staff could often be quite harsh and as a junior Lesley rose to this challenge and always carried out her work in a very professional way.

In 1984 Lesley took a break from her employment to have a family with husband Tommy and they had 3 children, Ross, Laura and Grant.  In February 1993 Lesley returned on a part time basis under the leadership of Mr Stuart Thomson where she was responsible for all aspects of administration in the office.  As her children became older Lesley gradually increased her hours and became full time under the direction of David Sayce.

Lesley now works Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and has a busy rest of the week and most weekends doing her favourite job as “Nana” to Thomas, Sophie and Matthew.

Lesley is a real asset to the Society team and has shown a “can do” attitude throughout the years always willing to do any task she is presented with and most importantly with a smile on her face.
