Cherrytree Pedigree Youngstock Sale Tops £1300

15th July 2016

The dispersal sale of the Pedigree Ayrshire Youngstock for K Thornber, Chipping drew an enthusiastic crowd of Ayrshire breeders keen to secure some of the remaining bloodlines of the Cherrytree Herd. The herd dates back some 70 years and their success in the show ring is legendary under the careful direction of Bill Bruce.

The first lot to sell was a 2008 EX 91 cow from the Blossom family with an EX 91 eight lactation grand dam, and she sold to Michael Hayhurst, Longridge for £1,000.  Lot two was a newly calved 2012 cow by Mawdesley Bright Beam again with an EX grand dam, and she joined M/s Cowell & Moore, Woodplumpton.  A run of recently AI’d heifers made up to £1,060 to David Coulthurst with a top price of £1,300 for September 14th born Cherrytree Dolly Daydream 16 by Palmyra Reality Brazil with an EX 90 dam and EX 92 grand dam, and she was sold to M Hayhurst.  Trade remained strong for the younger stirks with September 2014 born Cherrytree Milk Maid 34 selling at £560 to R Sunderland of Wigton.
