South West Ayrshires Fly To 4,000 Gns

Kivells held their annual South West Ayrshire Sale at Exeter Livestock Centre on Friday 2nd May. The entry of 90 Pedigree Ayrshires saw a cracking trade from start to finish with 100% clearance and the sale attracted buyers from Wales, Derbyshire, and Worcester and all over the West country.

Top of the day was 4000 gns for the Overall Champion from Mark Evans’ Organic East Church herd at Honiton with a fresh heifer “East Church Prodigy Blissful 2” by Green Lane Prodigy out of an EX 91 dam.  She was purchased by the Judge Robert Adams of Derbyshire for his Bigginvale herd. At 3000 gns also from Mark Evans, was an exceptional cow, “Milkmaids Vince Red Blissful”, a second calved cow by Golden Oaks Vince Red due in September to Each Church Rosinni.  She later sold to Oliver Bolitho who purchased 16 animals for his herd in Penzance. The first prize cow and reserve overall champion was the third calved “East Church Tommys Tango” sired by East Church Tomahawk.  She was fresh in April and sold to Richard & Tracey Martin for their Golden herd in Torrington. At 2500 gns, was “East Church Thorny Blossom” a cracking second calver by Rosehill Blackthorn. This March calved cow sold giving 35 kgs to Messrs A & A Rodenhurst of Worcester.

Messrs W R C & J E Christophers sold a super consignment of young cows and heifers from their renowned Rosehill herd in Truro and they topped at 2050 gns for ”Rosehill Magic Bouquet GP84”, a second calver by Rosehill Slightly Magic.  Bouquet was later sold to Oliver Bolitho who also purchased “Rosehill Doubloon”, a heifer by Kildare Pirate at 1850 gns. At the same money was “Rosehill Magic Vernenna” by Slightly Magic, and she sold to Robert Adams.

Sue Hearn of Truro sold her cow “Trevaskis Snowball VG 85”, a fourth calver by Carnell Bright Crown.  Snowball sold exceptionally well at 1700 gns to Messrs Down of Crediton.

Dry Cows sold to 1850 gns for Mark Evans with “Milkmaids Brown Girl Red” by Savard Red due her third in June and she was purchased by Messrs A & G Fordham of Ceredigion. In Calf heifers met a top call of 2000 gns for an exceptional heifer from Mark Evans with “East Church Rosinni Dairy Queen”, a daughter of East Church Rosinni. Dairy Queen later sold to Messrs James of Pembrokeshire. Autumn calving heifers sold well for Trevor Howe of Truro who sold a quality consignment of heifers from his Gadles herd topping at 1500 gns for“Gadles Tammy”, a Ristourn daughter due in September.  This heifer was purchased by Hugh Cotton of Pembrokeshire who also paid 1480 gns for “Gadles Matilda”, a daughter of Ardmore Crown Napier due in September. Bulling heifers met great demand and topped at 1050 gns for Courtney Walters of Launceston with“Lyner Bellissimo Brandysnap 31” by Haresfoot Bellissimo and she sold with an excellent pedigree to Rob & Anita Cornish of Tiverton for their Butterbesley herd. Yearling heifers sold to 900 gns for Sue Hearn with“Trevaskis Snowqueen” by Trevaskis Matchmaker.

Bulls sold to a top call of 2000 gns for “Rosehill Prestige” by De La Plaine Prime out of Haresfoot Enigma Pamela EX 94 to Chris & Lisa Window for their Hunnington herd.
